Fever, flu, itchy and watery eyes, stuffy nose and sore throat or cough and food allergies are usually the common symptoms of seasonal variations.
Doctors have advised people to take medicine, more fluids, hygienic foods and cover their nose and mouth to combat seasonal allergies.
According to doctors in the valley, the spring season can be a difficult time for asthma patients.
“Allergies are very common at this time of year. People have to be very careful in this season. If people have a sore throat or a cough, it’s time for them to see a doctor,” said Dr Khurshid Ahmad Dar, associate professor at Chest Diseases Hospital.
He also said that common symptoms of pollen-induced allergy include nasal irritation, runny nose, and red, watery eyes, which can further worsen if affected individuals do not seek medical advice. doctor.
“Once the flowers start to bloom, we see patients with allergies associated with pollen and other environmental allergens. People suffer from nasal congestion that forms over time and can also develop in the sinus cavities. If there’s no good way to drain those sinus cavities, you can develop a sinus infection,” he said.
He also advised patients with chronic lung diseases to take extra precautions such as vaccinations, maintaining hygiene, especially medications prescribed by their doctors.
Doctors said that there are intrinsic and extrinsic allergies and people are often confused about it.
“Allergic asthma is also known as extrinsic asthma and symptoms are triggered by allergens such as dust mites, pollen and animal dander. When some people breathe in allergens, the tubes in their lungs become whereas non-allergic or intrinsic asthma can be triggered by other factors such as anxiety, stress, exercise, cold air and viruses,” they said.
Doctors said the elderly, sick and people with low immunity should see a doctor if their symptoms are severe or protracted.
“If people have symptoms and wait too long to get help or take medicine, they can get sick,” the doctors said.
Like other allergies, there are skin complications that are very common in this season.
“Some people have bad skin reactions, like eczema flare-ups, rashes, dermatitis because we have histamine and allergic cells all over our bodies,” said dermatologist Dr. Mohiddin.
He also said that allergy symptoms vary from person to person. “Some people, especially children, have very mild itchy eyes.”
“I have seen patients with swollen red eyes. So in this condition they should see a doctor. These children when they go out should use glasses at least in the spring,” he said.
