Dollar General Creates Health Advisory Board

After announcing that he was putting more emphasis on healthcare products and services last year, discount retailer General dollar announced the creation of its Health Care Advisory Committee.

The panel is comprised of four healthcare industry subject matter experts who will serve as thought partners and strategists to Dollar General regarding its “development approach on how best to invest its resources within the context of the landscape. of health and well-being”. The retailer has more than 20 private label brands throughout the store, including over-the-counter medications, personal care productshealth items and more.

The Dollar General Healthcare Advisory Board is made up of the following healthcare experts, as described by the discount retailer:

Dr. Patrick Carroll is a leading physician with experience in retail health, managed care, and integrated delivery networks. He is currently Vida Health’s Chief Medical Officer. Previously, Dr. Carroll held medical director positions at Walgreens, Hims & Hers, and Hartford Healthcare. His various responsibilities included overseeing strategic initiatives, clinical and quality programs, and vendor group relationships.

Dr. Katy Lanz is a healthcare leader and entrepreneur with 20 years of experience designing, implementing and scaling care delivery models. She is currently Director of Strategy and Products at Personal Care Medical Associates and a National Board Member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. She previously served as clinical director at Aspire Health, which was acquired by Anthem in 2018.

Dr. Von Nguyen is a physician, population health expert, and public health leader with experience in building successful collaborations between organizations to improve the health and well-being of populations. He is currently Clinical Lead for Public Health and Population at Google. Prior to joining Google, Nguyen served as chief medical officer and senior vice president at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and held positions of increasing responsibility in policy and strategy at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Finally, Dr. Yolanda Hill Wimberly is a visionary and distinguished leader who has created a presence on the national healthcare stage, through her innovative organizational skills and prolific development of responsive clinical organizations and educational programs. A board-certified physician in pediatrics and adolescent medicine, Dr. Wimberly is senior vice president and director of health equity at Grady Health Systems. In this inaugural role, she is responsible for leading the development of the Grady Health System’s vision and strategic direction in the area of ​​health equity. Dr. Wimberly is also a professor of pediatrics at Morehouse School of Medicine.
