Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that to promote the traditional medicine industry, India will soon launch the “Ayush brand” which will lend authenticity to quality Ayush products produced in the country.
Talking about “Healing in India”, he also announced that a special visa category will soon be created for those who wish to travel to the country to avail Ayush therapies.
Modi was speaking after the inauguration of the three-day Ayush Global Investment and Innovation Summit at Mahatma Mandir here in the presence of Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and World Health Organization Director General Tredos Ghebreyesus.
‘Ayush’ means Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. India has a central ministry dedicated to these systems of alternative medicine.
“India will soon introduce the Ayush mark, which will give authenticity to the country’s quality Ayush products. The mark will be given to products that are checked using the latest technology. This will give confidence to the people of the world they buy. quality Ayush products,” Modi said.
“Traditional medicine has helped increase tourism in Kerala. This power is all over India, in every corner of India. ‘Heal in India’ can become a big brand in this decade. Wellness Centers based on Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, etc., can be very popular,” the Prime Minister said.
The special “Ayush visa” will help those who wish to undergo traditional treatments in India, he said.
The opportunities for Ayush investment and innovation are limitless as the country has seen unprecedented growth in the production of Ayush medicines, supplements and cosmetics, the prime minister said.
“Before 2014, the Ayush sector was less than $3 billion. Today it is also over $18 billion,” he said.
“In India, it is an era of unicorns. In 2022, so far, 14 Indian start-ups have joined the unicorn club. I am sure unicorns will emerge from our Ayush start-ups very soon,” said said Modi.
The Covid pandemic has led to an increase in exports of turmeric which was considered an immunity booster, Modi noted.
During the same period, modern pharmaceutical companies developed Indian-made Covid vaccines in a very short time, showing “how amazing they were when they got investment at the right time”, he said. declared.
“Who could have imagined that we would be able to develop an Indian-made corona vaccine so soon? Innovation and investment increase the capabilities of any sector. Now is the time to also increase investment in the Ayush sector, and this summit is a wonderful launch of the same,” Modi said.
