LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Now for some health news on why women don’t take their birth control on time. More than likely, it’s because they forget to get their prescription filled.
This is the reason why Dr Sophia Yen, MD, MPH, co-founder and CEO of Pandia Health started his business. The company provides contraception to women across the United States with a supply of up to a year depending on the prescription.
She has always been able to ship to all 50 states, but now she and other doctors at her company are also prescribing in Nevada and a half-dozen other states. Sophia says it’s about care, convenience and privacy.
“We can keep things confidential, you fill out a questionnaire from home which are the same 20 questions I would ask if you came to my office, for example, do you have a history of breast cancer, what works and doesn’t work for you. Then we would ask you to take a self-reported blood pressure from the past 364 days and call your regular doctor’s office. You can use an armband at home, at the drugstore or grocery store, or at a fire station, ”Yen said.
Dr Yen says there are 40 different birth control pills and if one or two haven’t worked for you before, she says you can definitely find the right solution with the fewest side effects.
She has personally written two thousand contraceptive prescriptions in the past two years, and prides herself on having the only woman founded, led by women, telemedicine company for this service.
